In Loving Memory of Dorothy Picarella
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Picarella on December 1, 2023. Surrounded by loved ones, Dorothy's indomitable spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Dorothy was born on November 24, 1940, to George and Ruby Tielking in Hazel Green, Alabama. Dorothy was the 10th of 13 siblings and from a young age, her vibrant personality and determination set her apart. She grew into a woman known for her infectious laughter, warm smile, and unwavering spirit that defined her till the very end.
Dorothy had an innate ability to bring joy to any gathering. Her presence lit up the room, and her laughter and song echoed throughr noevery celebration. Whether it was a family gathering, a friend's party, or a community event, Dorothy was the heartbeat of the festivities especially when she sang the “Birthday Song”.
Dorothy faced life's challenges with courage and resilience. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her. Throughout her journey, she displayed an unwavering determination that touched the hearts of many. Her legacy is not just one of endurance but of the grace with which she faced adversity.
Dorothy leaves behind a treasure trove of cherished memories. Her love for bowling, playing Shanghai ( Ol’ One Away!) song, dance, and her love of driving and travel that saw her criss-cross the nation on many adventures often to visit her children/grandchildren who brought joy to her life. Her enthusiasm was contagious. Friends and family will forever remember the countless moments of laughter, love, and shared experiences that defined Dorothy's rich and meaningful life.
Dorothy continues on to join her beloved husband Felix and is survived by her four children(Richard Kopp, Eric Kopp, Gregory Kopp, and Karla Virgadamo-Eareckson), their spouses Denise, Christina and Phil, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and the memory of Susan Kopp. In this time of grief, may we find solace in the memories we shared and the love that will forever endure.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Association in Dorothy's honor. ( act.alz.org)
