The story of
On November 21, 2025, Donald Clements Chraska left us to be with the Lord at the age of 94 in his assisted living center apartment in Denton, Texas. He was one of five children born to Freda and Elmer Chraska in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Donald served in the United States Army as a field artillery radio operator during the Korean War. In 1998, he retired from Bloom Engineering in Pittsburgh after a career as a pipe fitter/assembly man. He and his late wife Anna Mae McGovern, who were married in June 1957, initially retired to Stoneboro, PA in 1999. In 2007, they relocated to Denton, TX to be near their three children and grandchildren, with whom they thoroughly enjoyed spending time. Donald is survived by his three children - Donnie, Dan and Margie; Dan’s wife Karen and grandchildren Caroline, Carter and Chloe; Margie’s husband Dan Mohr and their daughter Marion, Marion’s husband Brendan D’Anna and two great-grandchildren, Roman and Austin. Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Anna Mae; his parents, Freda and Elmer Chraska; and siblings Russell, Elmer Jr., Violet Sabolcik, and Evelyn Bradt. In past years Donald enjoyed playing softball and bowling, was an avid hunter, and a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan (hockey, football and baseball). He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and western movies. He was very well-liked by all his physicians and his caregivers and was very clear how proud he was of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at his assisted living center, Village on the Park, in Denton, TX on Sunday, December 7 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association.
