Domiciano Omega Cruzada, Jr., known affectionately as "Jun" or "Uncle Jun," was born on February 28, 1934, in the city of Davao, Philippines. He was the fifth of 8 children of Atty Domiciano Llames Cruzada, Sr. and Francisca Capendit-Omega. He graduated as an architect engineer in the universities of Manila, Philippines. He later followed his brother, Atty. Rodolfo Cruzada, and moved to the United States, where he worked and retired as an L.A. County Housing Supervisor.
In the latter part of his life, he lived in Baldwin Park with his nephew, Manuel, until February of this year, when his health suddenly began to decline. He transferred between various hospitals and convalescent homes and eventually moved to Golden Senior Board and Care. He passed away just before midnight on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 91.
Uncle Jun was a kind and loving soul with a generous heart. Although he did not have children and family of his own, he was still sending money back to the Philippines to support other family members until he could not longer afford to do so because of his illness. He loved to laugh and people remember him for his laughter, as well as his gentle and easy-going nature. He loved to sing karaoke and among his favorites were Matt Munro's "All of A Sudden," "Walk Away," and "Portrait of My Love." And he loved to eat. At parties there was always a place for him at the table, enjoying a good meal.
When asked how he would prepare for his funeral, he would laugh and say "itapon lang ninyo ako sa dagat," which literally meant "just throw me to the sea." His indomitable spirit had no time to talk about such morbid and mundane things. But in private he was a thoughtful man, and he wrote that it was his wish to have his ashes sent back home to the Philippines. His sister Lourdes, his last remaining sibling, will be waiting to enter him into the family mausoleum in Davao City.
We love you, Uncle Jun, and you are always in our hearts. Rest in peace, now. There is a special seat for you at a table in heaven.
