The story of Dixie
On the morning of Nov. 21, 2022. Our beautiful mother, Dixie Marie Ashby, age 76 years old, left us and broke free from the chains of this life to take up a new and heavenly body free from all pain. She was born in Texas on February 20th, 1945 to John and Jackie Lemon. Our mother was a strong and independent woman who over came many hurdles in her life right up to the end. She loved with the same ferocity as she lived. Her beauty was as bright as the stars and her heart was as big as the moon. She leaves this world a dimmer place without her in it. She leaves behind many that loved her. Those left behind are her two younger sisters: Roberta Holcombe and Bonnie Burleson Her children: Tina Copen and son-in-law Harlan Copen, Joe Holcombe and daughter-in-law Renee Liebmann, and Corina Correa. Her grandchildren and their families: Andy Copen, John Copen, Melissa Copen, Cody Holcombe, Adrian Ruiz, Jessica Ornelse, and David Correa. Her nieces, nephews, and their families: Johnny Holcombe, Brenda Timms, Rebecca Mullins, Jackie Melvin, Cindy Marro, and Audrey Diksen. Our mother, Dixie, now joins those loved ones that have gone before her. Her parents: John and Jackie Lemon. Her sister Dorthy Holcombe. Her beloved brothers-in-law, Orbie Burleson,Edward Holcombe, and Sam Holcombe. Her late husbands: Darrell Gibbs, and Donald Ashby. Her niece and nephews: Orbie (Blue) Burleson, Robert Holcombe, and Nettie Allen. She will be missed immeasurably by the friends and family left behind and rejoiced in receiving by those passed on. Our mother Dixie did not want a service. She just wanted to move on and be with us in spirit to say our goodbyes in our own individual ways. For those that wanted to send flowers, we ask that you plant or donate a tree or plant of your choice in her honor to make the world a more beautiful place.
