The story of Deborah
Deborah (Deb) S. Newlee, 69, was called home early on February 28, 2023, in Green Valley, Arizona. She was born to Leo Wunder and Edna Taylor (Kenneth) in Topeka, Kansas on February 20, 1954. Deb led a very happy and active life filled with family and friends. She became a nurse after graduating from high school. She found her calling as a nurse because she loved helping others. Deb also enjoyed many activities such as helping her brothers with their race cars. She also enjoyed fishing and camping with her family and friends. Deb had two beautiful daughters, Kendra D. Sakir of Corona de Tucson, Arizona, and Kari A. Bauman (Jeremy) of Topeka, Kansas. She married the love of her life and her partner in all things, Jack Newlee. They were lucky to share many wonderful years together. Deb was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her father, Leo Wunder; her stepfather, Kenneth Taylor; her mother, Edna Taylor; and her brother, Thomas Wunder. Deb loved her two daughters; her 9 grandchildren, Samuel Shurley-Merriam, Lynette Longstaff, Joseph Bauman, Hunter Longstaff, Marlene Longstaff, Trenton Bauman, Elias Longstaff, Trinity Bauman, Parker Merriam, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Solomon (Steve); her sister, Laurie Reed (Mike); her brother, Mike Taylor (Roxanne); her 4 nieces; and her 3 nephews. It was Deb’s wish to be cremated and to have her ashes scattered at the lake where she shared many wonderful memories with her family. A celebration of life will be held in her honor at a later date.
