The story of
Deanna Lynn Perry fell asleep in death on March 6, 2024. She was 65. Deanna was born on August 15, 1958, in Danville, IL. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Perry, her mother Carolyn Upperman and her stepfather Michael Upperman. Deanna leaves behind 2 sisters, Pam Pfleiderer (Larry) of Crawfordsville, IN; Becky Perry of Rosedale, IN; 1 brother Craig Perry of Champaign, IL; 1 nephew Jason Pfleiderer (Michelle) of Virginia Beach, VA, 1 Goddaughter Shawna Slavich; 1 Uncle Jim Volkel (Linda) of Perrysville, IN, and many, many cousins. In 1976 Deanna graduated from high school at Bismarck, IL. Her close lifelong friends from there are Star Andrews, Julie Bader, and many more. Deanna moved to southern California in 1977. She married George Songer in 1979. He survives along with his present wife, Cathy. In California, Deanna became close lifelong friends with Jule Post, Mary Craft and many others. Deanna received an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems and worked in California at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Accu-SencorpWhite, Inc., for some 30 years. She loved riding her purple Harley-Davidson motorcycle! One of her favorite road trips was when she and George rode to Sturgis, South Dakota! Deanna loved the ocean, and she felt most at peace when sitting on the beach writing letters, poems, or short stories. She enjoyed observing and learning about God's creation, and the care of flowers, plants, animals, and birds. She was passionate about family and friends, dogs, butterflies, the color purple, and collecting rocks and seashells. She was best known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and making others feel good about themselves. Even though Deanna had her struggles and imperfections, (as we all do), there is no doubt that she had a heart of gold. She touched the lives of many people and was deeply loved. She will be incredibly missed. Our Dear Sister and Friend Deanna We will think about you every time we see: Beautiful Butterflies, Loving Cuddly Dogs, The Color Purple, Or a Girl with Long Hair Pulled Back Wearing a Head Band. We will think about you every time we see: A Unique Collection of Rocks, Gemstones or Seashells, Or when we hear the Rumble of a Harley, Or a Contagious, Heartfelt, Belly Laugh! And we will especially think about you every time we see: A Stunning, Captivating Ocean Scene. Rest Now My Sister. You Will Never be Forgotten. Our Love for You Endures. You Are in Our Hearts Forever. With Deep Everlasting Love, Your Family and Friends. A Remembrance Gathering will be announced at a later time.
