The story of
Clifford Scott Samuels (Age 58), known to family and friends as Scott, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Phoenix, AZ the morning of May 19th, 2024, following a valiant fight with cancer. Taken from us much too soon, Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Angela, and their children, Ashley (29), Gregory (25) and wife Kiana (23), Carly (22), his mother Arle Samuels, sister Cynthia Samuels, and brother Raemon Samuels, as well as a host of in-laws, nephews, nieces, and friends. Born in Portland, Oregon to Arle and the late Neil Samuels, Scott grew up in Annandale, Virginia, and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 from Virginia Tech and began working in Reston, VA where he met Angela – the love of his life. He began his master's degree at John Hopkins University, and after getting married to Angela, moved to Oregon where he completed his degree in Master of Science in Engineering Management at Portland State University in 1996. He spent most of his career working in Phoenix, AZ for Intel where he was known as a considerate, caring leader, and a great mind. In a world where the word ‘kind’ has lost its true meaning, Scott was truly kind, humble, and compassionate. He lived his life by the Golden Rule. Quick to smile and with a dry wit, he loved cheering for VA Tech and Washington Redskins football. He was a wonderful cook who enjoyed grilling, barbequing, and creating all sorts of scrumptious meals, as well as vacationing on the beach at OBX. More than anything, he loved his family. Scott was the bedrock of the family, consistently going above and beyond and helping those who needed help. The values, integrity, and humility taught to his children not through words, but through example, are lasting gifts that have shaped their lives. All of us are better for having known Scott. Scott lived his best life, and while he is no longer physically with us, and is terribly missed, his loving spirit will forever remain a guiding star in our lives.
