Cheryl Marie Powell, passed away on November 2, 2025, surrounded by love after battling breast cancer for many years. She was 76 years old and lived a life filled with compassion, strength, and purpose.
Cheryl was born on September 27, 1949, in Pensacola, Florida. From an early age, she had a natural gift for caring, whether it was for her family, her friends, or anyone in need. She devoted her life to creating a loving home where we always felt supported and understood. Her warmth filled every space she entered, and her smile could turn an ordinary day into something special.
Cheryl’s kindness and determination reached far beyond her family. Through her volunteer work as an advocate for people with disabilities, she gave her time, energy, and heart to helping others. She stood up for those who needed a voice and believed deeply in fairness, dignity, and inclusion. Her work made a real difference in people’s lives and inspired everyone who knew her.
She was the person you could count on for advice, comfort, or just to share a story and a laugh. She was the glue that held her family together, the steady presence behind every challenge, and the loving reminder to treat others with care and respect.
She loved baking, reading books by Dean Koontz, researching everything (especially health topics), watching Antiques Roadshow, and finding treasures at the Dollar Store. She loved talking beauty tips and makeup with her granddaughter and found joy in caring for her beloved dogs - Pepe, Sam, Simba, Happy, Lucky, and Max.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Rachel (Dan) Ballstadt and Colleen (Mike) Nyhus; granddaughter, Mikaela Nyhus; and siblings Thomas (Ulla) Feely, Kevin Feely, John (Jackie) Feely, Mary (John) Atwater, Colleen (Michael Crowley) Feely, Susan McFaddin, and Ann (Bob) Moffat all of whom will forever carry her love in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Powell; parents, James and Charlene Feely; brother, Jim Feely; sister, Kate Grady, whom she missed dearly; and many cherished dogs she spoiled with love.
