She was born January 1, 1946, in Gardiner, Maine, daughter of the late Leo and Irene Lancaster (Knapp). Catherine graduated from Kents Hill School in 1964 where she was an outstanding multi-sport athlete. She worked in the insurance industry for more than 35 years before retiring in 2020 to move closer to her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending sporting events to cheer on her family, crafting – especially for the holidays – and spending time with her dogs. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Carl K. Seely; brother, Stephen Lancaster; sisters, Patricia Hennessy and Marie Lancaster. She is survived by one son, Gerard R. Samson III, his wife Monique, and their two children, Quinn and Owen, of Chandler, Arizona; one brother, Dana Lancaster, and his wife Peggy, of Mt. Vernon, Maine; one sister, Michelle Witham, and her husband Travis. At the family’s request there will be no service at this time. A celebration of life is being planned in Maine for July 2026 with burial to follow at Fayette Mills Cemetery, Fayette, Maine.
