The story of
Carole Hoosack, age 78, passed away on October 15, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a six-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born in Birmingham, England, on September 9, 1948, the ninth of twelve children, Carole was a pioneer of her time. In 1967, with a determination well beyond her years, she came to the United States on her own and built her life living on Long Island, New York, with her husband Dave, until she moved to Las Vegas in 2012. On her birthday, September 9, 1983, Carole married Dave and spent the years together traveling and enjoying good times with friends and family. They celebrated 43 years of marriage last month. Carole worked in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich school district for more than 20 years, first as secretary to the high school principal and later as secretary to the music department, before retiring in 2012. She loved music, and supporting the music department in her final working years was a joy to her. Carole was loved and adored by everyone who met her, and she could easily turn a stranger into a lifelong friend. She loved to shop, and her Italian food rivaled that of anyone born and raised in Italy. And you can't think of Carole without thinking of putting the kettle on for a hot cup of tea! Above all, Carole loved her family. Her daughter, Jennifer, was, in Carole's own words, the greatest accomplishment of her life. Her grandson, Landon, who is turning 16, was her true pride and joy. Carole is survived by her devoted husband, Dave; her daughter Jennifer and her partner Johnnie; her grandson, Landon; her sister Beryl and her husband Les; her brother Dennis and his wife Jill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Amy Coles, and by those of her siblings who passed before her. We, her family, thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for enriching her life with your love and friendship. It was enough for her to leave this world telling us she "had a good life." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a breast cancer charity of your choice or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
