The story of
Carole Ann Ambrose Obituary 04/14/1946- 12/09/2025 Born as Carole Ann McKay, she was a wonderful woman who, throughout her time with us, embraced many roles with love and grace—a partner, a mother, a sister, a Nana, and a great-grandmother. She passed away on the night of December 9th, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Washington, D.C., on April 14th, 1946, as the third child out of five to Leona Elizabeth Anderson and William Penrose McKay. She is survived by her siblings Leona Elizabeth Hale, Diana Jean McKay, and Penelope Louise Klein. She graduated in the class of 1964 from Thurmont High School in Thurmont, Maryland. She went on to build a family of her own, raising three children—Richard Austin Ambrose Jr, Tamela Jean Beatrice Ambrose, and Joseph Gordon Ambrose. Over the years, she welcomed 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. After moving to Arizona, she made it her home, and it was there that she met the true love of her life, Michael Lee Johnson. For more than 40 years, Carole and Michael shared a bond defined by deep devotion, joy, and adventure. Together, they created countless memories and lived a life full of laughter, partnership, and unwavering affection. Spunky, strong-willed, independent, and endlessly creative, Carole approached everything she did with ingenuity and a signature sweetness. She faced every challenge with resilience and a quiet strength that was admirable and inspiring. As a Nana, she was nurturing, patient, and deeply attentive. She took the time to teach, to encourage, and—most importantly—to truly listen. Those who love her will forever carry her love, her warmth, and the lessons she so generously shared in their hearts. Carole’s presence made the world a brighter place, and she will be deeply missed.
