The story of
In the evening hours of May 8, 2024, Carol S. Conley comfortably passed away in Lacey, WA, at the age of 82. Born Carol Boggess on April 20, 1942, in West Virginia to Dempsey Olden Boggess and Mary Elizabeth Bower Boggess. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thomas Conley (Tom). Carol is survived by daughter Tamie Maxim, son Michael Conley, and four grandchildren. Carol, known affectionately as "Mema," touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. After her husband, Tom, passed from a long battle with cancer in 1985, she became a single parent. Her ability to juggle the challenges of everyday life and costs was nothing short of incredible. Carol provided what both Tamie and Mike needed and often what they wanted as they grew up. In addition to doing her best for both children, Carol was open to helping others. Both Tamie and Mike had friends in need to come live with them at different times during adolescence. Carol found ways to make it work. She never complained about the additional cost or shortage of food. She just did what she could, and it worked out. In her later years, she loved to gamble. Often taking trips with family and friends to various local casinos. And for her, it actually paid for itself. She enjoyed a decade-long lucky streak that she loved to brag about. Another passion was collecting bears. Collecting enough to have a bedroom dedicated to bears and filled with hundreds of them. With even more spilling out throughout the rest of the house. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to teddybearswithheart.com in her honor.
