In Loving Memory of Arturo Moreno Cardenas
Arturo Moreno Cardenas was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on February 15, 1944, and passed away on October 23, 2026.
After being raised in La Junta, Chihuahua, Mexico, Arturo moved to California and then eventually to Arizona in the late 1960s, where he met his beloved wife, Viola, while stocking shelves at a grocery store where she worked as the butcher. Together, they built a family life grounded in faith, hustle, hard work, and dedication.
Arturo devoted more than 30 years to Welker Farms, where he was known for his commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic. His hard work reflected his lifelong values of responsibility, perseverance, and devotion to those who depended on him.
Outside of work, Arturo enjoyed searching for antiques and buying and selling automobiles—interests that reflected his curiosity, resourcefulness, and appreciation for a good find.
For more than 20 years, Arturo shared a special relationship with Rosa Contreras. Together, they enjoyed companionship and the simple joys of life, and Rosa and her supportive family held an important place in his later years.
Arturo had a sharp sense of humor and a knack for giving people nicknames. He loved telling stories of his latest deal and never missed a chance to boast a little when he turned a good profit. A grandchild who couldn’t quite pronounce “Grandpa” gave him a nickname of his own: “Pampo,” a name that held a special place in his family.
Arturo was also the foundation of faith to the Lord. He dutifully ensured our attendance and dedication every Sunday at the St. Rose of Lima Church we all attended throughout our lives. He died living as a dedicated servant to the lord.
He is survived by his children, Art and Rebecca; his extended family, Maria, Martha, Erlinda, Angelina, Roger, Richard, Daniel and his grandchildren, Gregory, Anthony, Jacob, Jennifer, Victoria, Zachary, and Veronica; his great-grandchildren. Maria, his stepdaughter, and Ray, his son-in-law, who devotedly cared for him during the final years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; his parents, Pablo and Octavia Cardenas; his sisters, Minda, Chayo, and Locha; and his brother, Santiago.
Arturo, Pampo, "Oso" will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
