The story of
Andrea Frances Kuehnel (nee Stevenson) passed away due to complications from metastatic breast cancer on April 15th, 2026 in Portland, Oregon. Andrea was born on September 21st, 1972 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland to Elizabeth (McGrath) and Col. Michael Stevenson. As the seventh out of eight children born to a military family, she would also live on Army bases in Oklahoma and Germany before relocating to Gahanna, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus) in the early eighties. Andrea was a graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School. She was also a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering (class of 1995) and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Shortly after graduation she moved to Chicago and began what would be a highly successful career in geotechnical engineering and engineering project management. On May 18th, 2002 she married Edward Kuehnel. Together they had two children, Edward "Eddie" Kuehnel (b. Nov. 21st, 2003) and Michael Kuehnel (b. May 6th, 2005). Andrea is survived by her husband and children, and by her seven siblings: Joe, Mary, Mark, Jennifer, Barbara, Debbie, and James, as well as many nieces and nephews. Andrea was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her time here on Earth.
