The story of
William Carter was Born in Asheville North Carolina in 1931. He was an only child but had lots of cousins and friends. When he was a teenager, his family moved to St Petersburg, Florida, where his father built them a home and he graduated from high school. After graduation, he flew to Tokyo, Japan where his mother had taken a job with the US Army. He was drafted into the Korean war, and was able to work on the army base in Tokyo in the mail room. After living in Tokyo for 4 years, he moved to San Francisco where he attended San Francisco City College. He then started his sales career with Van Heusen, and moved up to Spokane Washington where he met his wife, Marianne, of over 40 years, and they moved back to San Francisco, where they started a family. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Carter D'Alessandro and her children, Alicia and Michael. His son, Larry Carter, passed away in 2021. He raised his children in Fremont, California, where he continued in a Sales career, and enjoyed traveling, hunting & fishing, and working at gun shows throughout the Western United States. He also enjoyed his 30' Bayliner power cruiser and the many adventures with the Diablo Yacht Club in the Delta of Northern California. In 2005, after many trips to Palm Desert, William bought a home to enjoy the last 18 years in Palm Desert. He loved to go out dancing during the week, and was a favorite dance partner to many local ladies. During the hot summer months, he would drive up to the family cabin that his mother had built in the Sierra Foothills, not far from his daughter, Nancy's, home. William, known as "BC" to his friends, lived a wonderful life, and will be missed by many.
