The story of
In Loving Memory of Kurt Schneider Kurt Schneider, a Colorado native, was born on August 17th, 1953, and passed on April 21st, 2024. Kurt was the son of Richard and Joanne Schneider. He is survived by his wife, Sharon. In fact, they had been married 44 years as of March 1st, 2024. Kurt is also survived by his Aunt Mary and Uncle Harry Ruder. Kurt had many interests throughout his life. He loved the mountains, playing guitar, doing impressions, acrobatics, and a really funny joke. He also loved the ocean, snorkeling, boogie boarding and just sitting by the seashore. But the traveling bug caught Kurt when he married into the May family. After that, he would go just about everywhere. Together, Kurt and Sharon went to Hawaii and Mexico several times, as well as California, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida and visited friends in Minnesota, Virginia, New York and even Long Island. As you can tell from the pictures, he truly loved the ocean! Kurt also had a fantastic memory, which sometimes came in handy and sometimes drove Sharon nuts. He could see a movie and practically remember the whole script. This would often lead into a repetition of movie quotes and/or whole conversations, which then were adapted by Kurt to cover almost any situation. However, Kurt considered being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as the highlight of his life. His parents came into the truth in the 1970s but Kurt considered himself as being “raised in the truth.” He loved being a witness so much he would spend summers engaged in “vacation pioneering.” When the draft for Vietnam came up, his number was 8. He prayed hard about his situation and prepared himself to face the draft board and explain why he could not engage in war. Fortunately, that war ended before he spent time in prison but he was faithful to Bible principles. A few years later, Kurt applied to serve at Bethel in NYC and was accepted. While not all brothers adapted to life at Bethel, Kurt LOVED it! He loved the hours, his job, the brothers he worked and lived with – in short, he loved everything about it. Unfortunately, his father became ill and passed away. The brothers at Bethel counseled Kurt that he needed to return to Denver and take care of his mother as he was her only child. An interesting feature of this event occurred: Kurt’s father died because of refusing a blood transfusion. Kurt always wanted to be as faithful as his father and did so when a similar, but still different, issue came up regarding the use of human blood. Kurt too remained faithful to Jehovah on this issue. This loyalty has brought Sharon a great feeling of peace to know that Kurt was faithful to his convictions. A memorial for Kurt will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, at 5:00 pm. Please join us if you are able. The location of the memorial will be the Kingdom Hall at 11580 Sheridan Boulevard in Westminster, Colorado and a reception following at the Westminster Recreation Center at 104th & Sheridan. A zoom feature will be made available.
